Michael Landrum

A native of Augusta, Georgia, Michael Landrum received the Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin College and the Master of Fine Arts degree from California Institute of the Arts.  After receiving his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Temple University, he became Professor of Music and Film Studies at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York.

 In 1976, Mr. Landrum won first prize in the J.S. Bach International Competition for Pianists in Washington, D.C.  In that area he has performed at the Phillips Collection, the Pan American Union and the Corcoran Art Gallery, as well as with the Arlington Symphony Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony.  He has presented solo recitals in Boulder and Denver, Colorado, and at the New Mexico Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe.

His European debut took place at the Seminar Marienhohe in Darmstadt, Germany.  Several seasons ago, he appeared in concert at the Mercantile Library in Cincinnati, Ohio, and at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey.

 In the Upstate New York area, Mr. Landrum has performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Rochester Chamber Orchestra, at Hochstein Community Music School, Nazareth College, SUNY Geneseo, and Syracuse University.  He has been featured in several concerts with the Society for Chamber Music in Rochester, and appeared on that series again in January of 2005. 

 While living in Philadelphia, Michael Landrum was a student of Harvey Wedeen.  His professional debut there was at the Ethical Society in a concert of chamber music with the DaPonte String Quartet.  He has since performed with that ensemble on numerous occasions in Maine.  Mr. Landrum also studied for a number of years with Edna Golandsky, and has participated in many master classes with Dorothy Taubman at Amherst College, Williams College, and at the 92nd St. Y in New York.  In June of 2005, he presented a Lecture/Recital at Columbia Artists Management Hall in New York.
