A native of Cleveland, Ohio, violinist Molly Fung-Dumm has concertized extensively throughout the United States and Europe as a founding member of the Samaris Piano Trio and the Zannetti Trio, collaborating with chamber musicians from around the world. A finalist in the Naumburg International Chamber Music Competition and winner of the Irving Klein International String Competition, her solo appearances have included performances with the Rochester Chamber and Philharmonic Orchestras, the Peninsula Symphony, and the Cleveland Orchestra. She was a frequent guest artist on chamber music series across the Midwest with Ars Poetica, the Orion Ensemble and the Myriad Ensemble, and is an active participant on the Rainbow Series at Severance Hall. Ms. Fung-Dumm was a member of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the ProMusica and Ohio Chamber Orchestras, and is currently assistant concertmaster of Cleveland’s Blue Water Chamber Orchestra. Her debut recording is on the Newport Classics label entitled Café Music with piano trios by Kirchner, Copland, Baker and Schoenfield, and on additional recordings entitled P.Q. Phan: Banana Trumpet Games, and Panorámicos: chamber music for winds, strings and piano. Ms. Fung-Dumm began her association with the Csehy Summer School of Music in 1976 as a camper majoring in violin and piano, and joined the faculty in 1983, teaching for more than fifteen seasons. She shares her summers with Credo held at Oberlin College and is adjunct violin professor at Cleveland State University. Ms. Fung-Dumm studied at the Eastman School of Music where she was awarded the Performer’s Certificate under the tutelage of Sylvia Rosenberg and Donald Weilerstein.
